Contact lens solution linked to serious eye infection that can cause blindness

Following a warning from the Centers for Disease Control, Advanced Medical Optics is pulling its contact lens solution from store shelves.

AMO Complete Moisture Plus Multi-Purpose Solution may contain an amoeba that can cause a serious eye infection that could lead to blindness.

The CDC confirmed 138 cases of the eye infection Acanthamoeba keratitis, which an lead to a corneal transplant or removal of an eye.

People who have any of the multi-purpose solution are urged to stop using it immediately.

The CDC also urged people who have used the product to call an eye doctor if they have experienced eye pain or redness, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, the feeling of something in the eye or excessive tearing, according to an article in the New York Times.
